About Dejuan
Dejuan Adamson is a rising presence in the Gospel music arena that works with churches, music departments, and singers to bring glory to God in music and song. He and his wife TaNunya have been married for almost 26 years and have one son, Jamen D’Juan. According to his mother, who is also a musician, he sang his first “musical note” at the age of 9 months, and sang the full chorus of a song at the age of 1. Needless to say, his love for music, especially Gospel music, blossomed at a very young age. He began playing for his home church’s youth choir at the age of 12, and got his first job offer as a musician at age 15…making $15 a week.
After graduating high school in 1993, he moved to Waco, TX in 1994. It was in Waco that he began to flourish as a musician. His love for teaching and directing, born out of necessity, soon followed, as most musicians in the area had to teach the choir the songs themselves. Frequently being afforded opportunities to play, teach, and direct all over the Central Texas area, his love and passion to grow, be better, and help others be better was undeniable. It was after attending a “Live” choir recording for the very first time in 1997 that he knew that Gospel music (the music of the church) was what he wanted to do for the rest of his life. In the Spring of 1998, he was led by the Holy Spirit to form a community choir. He named the choir The Anointed Voices of Worship (AVOW), but later changed the name to The Anointed Worshippers (A-Dub). Being an aggregation that was made up of members from different denominations, cultures, and backgrounds it furthered his hunger to broaden his methods of teaching as well as styles of music he taught. Having a community choir also taught him about working with people from different walks with different personalities, which would be extremely beneficial in cultivating his growth toward operating in leadership.
Having 30+ years of experience in Music Ministry, his gift as a musician, songwriter, composer, director, and workshop clinician has opened up countless doors and provided a plethora of opportunities in several cities and states. Although he loves working with well-trained voices, he is extremely passionate about helping those who feel they don’t have the greatest voices to realize their full potential to accomplish things they believe to be difficult or out of reach. He believes that any choir can be taught to sing effectively with hard work, persistence, and dedication. He constantly stresses the importance of keeping Christ as the center, and continuously operating in a spirit of excellence with whoever he works with.
He is working on his 2nd project to be recorded in April and released later in 2024. This Oklahoma native currently resides in Houston, TX and serves as the Min. of Music for Pilgrim Rest MBC.
